Sr. X
Sr. X was born at the beginning of the 80’s in a small town in the north of Spain. After following several Arts degrees, he started to bring his ideas to the street, trying to get city people to stop, think or just smile for a moment when they saw his work, briefly forgetting their daily routine.
Some of his inspirational themes are pop culture, films, publicity and urban legends, which he normally gives expression to through stencils, paste-ups or installations. His creations are often wrapped in a distinct tone of irony and social criticism, frequently shrouded by a veil of sharp humor.
In addition to his work in the streets, he likes to experiment with mixing street art techniques and more traditional elements such as acrylics, oil and collage in his studio, bringing his canvas creations one step forward with a more polished and elaborated process.
He has participated in numerous art festivals, exhibitions and projects, and he enjoys leaving some of his work in the cities he visits.
El Sr. X nació a principios de los años 80 en un pequeño pueblo del norte de España. Después de realizar diversos estudios relacionados con el arte, empezó a trasladar sus ideas a la calle, intentando hacer, por un instante, que los habitantes de la ciudad se pararan, reflexionaran o simplemente sonrieran al ver sus obras, alejándolos brevemente de su rutina diaria.
La cultura pop, las películas, la publicidad o las leyendas urbanas son algunas de sus inspiraciones, que plasma generalmente mediante stencils, paste-ups o instalaciones. Sus creaciones suelen estar envueltas en un claro tono de ironía y crítica social, casi siempre teñidas con un velo de humor ácido.
Además de su labor en la calle, experimenta en su estudio con las técnicas del street art mezcladas con elementos más tradicionales, como acrílicos oleos y collage, pudiendo llevar sus creaciones en lienzo un paso mas allá, con un proceso mas depurado y elaborado.
Ha participado en numerosos festivales, exposiciones y proyectos y le gusta dejar algo de su obra en las ciudades por las que pasa.
