ABOUT AMAYA SUBERVIOLA:
Amaya Suberviola (Mendavia, Navarra, 1993) is a visual artist based in Bilbao since 2011, where she develops her practice linked to contemporary painting. Her work focuses on exploring the behaviours of images and their consumption in the digital age, and on how these processes condition and transform pictorial practice.
Some of her recent projects have been recognised with the BMW Painting Award 2025 and the First Ertibil Prize 2025. She has taken part in residencies such as the Basque Artist Program at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in New York (2024), a period that fostered new lines of research and opened up fresh perspectives within her practice.
She recently completed a residency at the BilbaoArte Foundation, where she held a production grant and studio space. She is currently undertaking a two‑month residency in Tokyo thanks to the Ertibil Prize awarded by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, continuing her pictorial research within a new cultural context.
