Carla Fuentes work is a face-to-face encounter with the human figure—everything it carries and everything that overflows from it. There’s something in her characters that looks back at you, something unsettling and captivating at once.
Graduated in Fashion Design and Fine Arts studies, Carla began her career as an illustrator and made a name for herself working with brands, agencies, magazines, and music groups. But her universe didn’t stop there.
She is currently deeply engaged in figurative painting, developing exhibition projects through oil painting in which she takes portraiture to unusual places. There are no flat faces or complacent poses in her work. What you find instead are questions—visual narratives that dissect human relationships, the absurdity of the everyday, and the contradictions of our species.
Her characters, sometimes accompanied by flies, flowers, or screens, are not just symbols: they are mirrors that reflect and distort, that connect with both the primal and the contemporary.
