ABOUT ANNA TARATIEL
Anna Taratiel Ovni (Barcelona, 1982)
Her work evokes internal landscapes and presents metaphorical reflections on her surroundings, expressed through geometrical abstraction, provoking emotions and heightening the viewer’s perception through the intense relationship, compositional, conceptual and technical, that she maintains with space and colour. Mental cartographies that take on material life to fight, from visual equivocation, with the ideas of structure, pattern and variation, or with the border between the two and three-dimensional.
In the last few years, Anna Taratiel’s work has been developing jointly both in her studio and in the urban space, each environment providing an exciting feedback for creative growth. Even though she’s currently more focused in her studio work, her strong background in street art clearly shows in her most recent body of work.
A strong presence of geometry is one of the features of Anna’s paintings. Geometric shapes and patterns appear systematically in nature and in the urban environment, and they are also the starting point to represent a world muted by technological change.
Spatial thinking and geometric reflection are key elements that Anna uses to analyze and to try to understand reality. The organic and the geometric are at the heart of Anna’s body of work. In a constant redefinition of her language, the organic shapes and bold colors that were the anchors of her early works have given way to geometry in her later paintings.
